Analyst Brandon Ross joined other analysts in recent months in suggesting that this week's SiriusXM purchase of Pandora is part of a bigger plan, with Live Nation the next company on the list. 'This transaction is likely the first of multiple deals involving SiriusXM, particularly as the all-stock nature of the Pandora acquisition did nothing to address Sirius' growing access to cash,' BTIG analyst Brandon Ross wrote, according to MarketWatch. 'We continue to believe Sirius' controlling shareholder, Liberty Media Corporation, wishes to eventually control a combined SiriusXM, Pandora and Live Nation, and that this will become reality with a Sirius acquisition of Live Nation and a clean-up of Sirius' share structure...

The modern jazz piano starts with Bud Powell. It's almost impossible to listen to any post-World War II jazz pianist without first studying the recordings of Powell. If you're new to Powell, the best entry point is The Complete Bud Powell on Verve, a five-CD set that covers Powell in a trio studio setting from 1949 to 1956 on the Clef, Norgran and Verve labels. If you're already familiar with Powell, a terrific live set you might be unaware of is Bud Powell: Birdland, 1953, a three-CD set on the ESP-Disk label.
